In Leiden, after a positive CIZ opinion for Intensive Care (IZ), you as a resident can opt for a Personal Budget (PGB) under the Social Support Act (Wmo) or Long-Term Care Act (Wlz). The PGB in the Leiden region amounts to approximately €1,300 net per month for self-arranged care, such as babysitting, therapy or support via local providers like Careyn or Libertas Leiden. Submit your application at the Wmo desk of the Municipality of Leiden (City Hall at Bargelaan) and draw up a care plan with a budget holder agreement and drawing right via the SVB. Advantages: flexibility in care choice, such as home care in the Stevenshof neighbourhood or therapy at Leiden practices; disadvantages: administrative burdens and strict control on spending by the municipality. Rejection is possible if the plan is insufficiently elaborated. Annual accountability is mandatory, including receipts and invoices. In case of misuse, repayment will be claimed by the Municipality of Leiden. Wmo Article 41 regulates the PGB as an alternative to care in kind. For disputes regarding PGB history or local application, consult a lawyer via the Juridisch Loket Leiden or law firms in the city centre.
